WELCOME

Hi everyone, my name is Janie Dickenson, I am the Mayor of Launceston. It is one of the most spectacular places in Australia—and indeed the world. This is my opportunity to invite you all to come to beautiful Launceston in November for the 2004 Rotary Zone Institute.

Now, you guys know what an Institute is all about - it is a leadership opportunity, an opportunity to experience and expose yourself to new ideas, new trends and directions. So take this opportunity to also experience the wondrous world of Tasmania - a place renowned for its fine food and wine, spectacular scenery and hospitable people. Whether you choose to come by jet plane from any Australian city or one of the three Spirit of Tasmania ships with your car or motor home, Launceston is the gateway to Tasmania. Central to everything it is only one hour to wilds of Cradle Mountain; one hour to the best trout fishing waters of the nation; to the Freycinet National Park and on to Hobart.

Rotarians are proud of what they can do and what can be achieved through team work. Equally, I am proud of what we have to offer in Launceston and indeed Tasmania, so make it your first destination. Enjoy a tremendous Institute and then pamper yourself - indulge in all that beautiful Tasmania has to offer. Please come!
