People - Institute Chairman PDG Brian Coleman
Brian joined the Rotary Club of St Ives (Sydney, NSW) in 1988 and became President in 1992/93, when the club won the District Governor's Shield for best all-round club. In District 9680 (Northern Sydney and the Central Coast ) he served as District Secretary and as a Group Representative before becoming Governor in 1997-98. Subsequently he has held many District positions - Rotary Foundation Chairman, Council on Legislation representative and Centenary of Rotary Committee Chairman. He is currently District Trainer for the third time. Brian served Rotary Australia World Community Service Eastern Region as Secretary from 1999-2002 and as Vice-Chairman the following year. He has also represented the RI President at a District Conference, been a member of the international Children at Risk Task Force and NSW coordinator for the Polio Eradication Campaign in 2002-03. In 2003 he was a discussion group panel member at the Brisbane International Convention. At the annual Zone Institute, Brian was Registrar in 2000, Governor-nominee Training Leader 2001-2003 and Zone Training Leader, with particular responsibility for Governor-elect training, in 2004. He was a member of the Records Management Committee from 2000 to 2003. Brian continues to serve Rotary at club level and is currently its Rotary Foundation Chairman. Apart from Rotary, Brian's main hobby is genealogy. He is married to Daryl, a past district chairman of Inner Wheel, and they have two children and four grandchildren. |
